One thing I have learned in my life is that few things get people excited more than politics. I have really made an effort to avoid political blogs. However, I am the President of the school district I graduated from in a small northern Wisconsin town. So, I am involved politically.
One thing I am fascinated with is the selection of Paul Ryan for Veep. He seems serious and he seems to know his stuff. He is different from anyone I have seen in Washington. He seems to be willing to put the long term best interests ahead of his own political career. This is something that I have not seen out of a Republican or Democrat before.
The old political joke that I have heard is that Veeps are like spare tires. You have to keep them in the trunk but keep them inflated and ready to go at any time. I do not know if Romney intended to put his Veep front and center but it seems to be working that way.
The one outcome I do hope for is that the candidates spend more time on issues than they do bloodying one another. I hope Ryan sticks to issues and not mud.
