Home unit sales were down for November. This is not very good news for home sellers. This is on the heels of a weak October and I felt that November may prove to be positive because of October’s weak performance. The graph above shows homes listed and sold in Vilas and Oneida Counties. One will note that the red line is the key line as it shows home sales.
There were 63 homes sold in Vilas and Oneida Counties in November of 2010. November does not exactly have a stellar sales history: 68 units in 2009, 75 in 2008. However, there were 121 units sold in 2007 and 154 units sold in 2006. Yes, those seem like the “good old days” for Sellers.
What appears to be the trend here is the winter solstice for home sales coming a bit early. Every year we seem to experience a lull in sales between December and February. The swings were more severe back in 2000 to 2006. We don’t seem to see the doubling of unit sales because we do not have the summer increases of the stronger economies. So, we will see weak unit sales in the 50 unit area for the next few months. After that, I’d like to think that things will perk up! I’m always trying to be the optimist about 2011!
